NOT A LOVE-STORY:2 || 8th abstract.
Parineeti anyhow gathered herself. She was supposed to be strong! Strong enough to fight for her love! Strong enough to realise her dreams! Her parents stayed in the city for a week or so, and then returned back to their hometown, reminding Parineeti of her promise.
It was not easy for Parineeti to get normal, she had her final exams in a fortnight and after that would have been entering in the last year of her school life! Still she made up her mind to concentrate on studies. Pushkar’s thoughts never left her heart! She read Pushkar’s last letter everyday and kept telling herself that this separation won’t last forever, if she manages to stay strong now! She passed her class eleventh with a decent score, and worked equally hard for boards, which fetched her good grades and a promise of admission in a good college.
Pushkar on the other hand felt lost and lonely, he begged his C.O. to transfer him to some other location, and he was sent on a course within few days and then kept wandering on different locations of his work. Still, a little hope in his heart was alive that he might get the love of his life somehow. Parineeti’s pictures were his priceless assets; he used to treat them like his holy bible! Everytime he went to pick a handkerchief, Parineeti’s innocent face would flash in front of him! Her memories were the only reason of his existence.
<FIVE YEARS LATER!>
Entire officer’s training academy was decorated to experience the most splendid event of the year, the passing out parade of the cadets. It was finally the day, when the cadets could finally walk over the ‘antim pag'[last step] and announce themselves as proud officers of the Indian army. Officers, lady wives, celebrities and the parents of cadets all seemed excited about the ceremony.
But there was something that attracted the country’s media much more than ever before! It was for the very first time, that a lady cadet would be coming out as the best cadet. Each and every person wished to have a look of that incredible lady who managed to outshine the gentlemen cadets, even in the physical activities.
At last, the parade started, people kept flashing their cameras and camcorders to capture each and every bit of this marvellous ceremony. Media people kept zooming and focusing on the lady who was leading the parade! There was a huge round of applause when sword of honour was presented to her by the army chief and those two stars were pinned on her shoulders.
Cadets hugged each other and screamed in joy but this lady was eager to see someone else than her fellow cadets. She ran towards the place where all officers were seated. Her every move was being captured by the media people, people watched her in wonders, thinking how come this; innocent looking and skinny girl could make it?
“Lt. Parineeti Singh reporting sir!”, she said saluting a Major.
Pushkar smiled at her, there was so much he wished to say today, but words were falling short in front of the happiness he felt. There were tears of joy in both of their eyes. a dream was coming true for them! a dream of seeing each other after so long! a dream of fulfilling each other’s dream! And above all a dream of living each-other’s dream!
Parineeti opened her arms and hugged him, this was their first ever hug. Now she actually understood, why Pushkar told her, that few stories are NOT A LOVE-STORY because they are meant to be much above and far above than mere love-stories. Pushkar was not just her love, but her guiding star, her angel who had made her what she was today. They had paid a heavy price for their togetherness, but today everything was worth it!!!
THE END! 🙂
